WHO ARE WE?


A. ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION

  1. New Hampshire Indonesian Community Support (NHICS) was established initially on August 30, 2010 and received its Non Profit Organization status in January 2017 with the following mission:
    - To help create a well-informed, well-connected and stronger immigrant community in NH.
    - To build a community that contributes to society.

  2. NHICS serves all of the two thousand Indonesians who live in the seacoast area of NH regardless of their religious, ethnic, or cultural background.

  3. NHICS is a Charity Organization (Business ID # 738318).

  4. It is organized and run primarily by a team of volunteers.

  5. NHICS offers services completely free of charge. Donations are accepted and they are Tax Deductible.





B. PROJECT NARRATIVE

1. NHICS is working with and connecting the community to the following organizations:

  • Government agencies for immigration, Law Enforcement, public assistance, employment agencies, healthcare, legal advice, and education.

  • Indonesian Consulate and Embassy in the USA.

  • Community-based organizations, especially those that focus on immigrants.

  • Adult education providers and English language instructional programs.

  • Local public schools, universities and colleges in NH.

  • Social Service agencies and Refugee and resettlement organizations.

  • Etc.











2. NHICS helps provide the community with the following services:

  • Translating and interpreting assistance given by trained legal, medical and community interpreters.

  • Holding a series of community educational discussions on Workplace Safety and Health, IRS Taxes, Health Insurance, Immigrant Rights, Domestic Violence and Abuse Law, Federal Enforcement Law, etc.

  • Giving legal advice from qualified lawyers.

  • Advocating for the immigrant with the USCIS & ICE.

  • Advocating for the immigrant with the US and State legislative.

  • Advocating for the immigrant with the local police department.

  • Advocating for the immigrant parents with the local public schools.

  • Advocating for the community with the Indonesian Embassy and Consulate.

  • Preparing immigrants for the citizenship interview.

  • Promoting Indonesian music, dance and culture to the local community.

  • Connecting immigrants to employment agencies.
